The OHCC RV club was formed in February of 1993. It is a component of the Ocean Hills Social Club, a non-profit corporation of the state of California. The Club shall assist the Corporation in serving the recreational, entertainment, and education needs and interests of Ocean Hills Country Club residents.
“Live your life so that whenever you lose it, you’re ahead.”
Will Rogers
One of the great advantages of Ocean Hills Country Club is a free, gated and locked storage lot for RVs. But hitting the road is always more fun, and safer, with fellow road warriors, especially those who really know their business. That’s where the RV Club can help. The club hosts social events and RV trips for members throughout the year, and ownership of an RV is not required. The trips range across the Southwest U.S. and each is planned by a “Wagon Master” who arranges for interesting activities and lodging for RV owners and for those just along for the ride.
Membership: OHCC residents who pay their annual RV Club dues are eligible for membership. Owning
an RV is not a requirement for joining. New members and new ideas are always welcome. The
“membership form” can be found on our web page under the tab “membership”. You can down-load the form, fill it out and follow the instructions on where to send it along with your dues. Dues are $10 per person.
Organization: The club has been organized to conduct social events and RV trips for club members
throughout the year. There is a board of directors consisting of President, Secretary, Treasurer, VP of
Trips, VP of Social Events, VP of RV Lot, and VP of Membership. In addition, we have team members that
perform additional valuable functions for the club. The board is elected at our October membership
meeting. The club is a non-profit organization. Trips and social events are designed to break even.
News, Events and Trip Announcements: News about the RV club is distributed via the Open Road
digital newsletter and club membership e-mails. This media will be used to alert members of upcoming
meetings, trip reservation dates and social events. In addition, other announcements may be made about the club. We also have a monthly article written in the OHCC Living magazine. Another resource is the RV web site that can be accessed directly or can be accessed from the OHCC web site under social clubs.
Monthly Meetings: Meetings are held in Abravenal Hall in the Club House on the 4th Tuesday in the
months of January, March, April, May, September, October, and November. It is common to have our
primary social events in February, June, and December. For club membership meetings, social time
begins at 6:30 PM and the meeting begins at 7:00 PM lasting for about an hour. Meetings may be
cancelled or altered if determined necessary by the board. The membership will be alerted to changes.
RV Trips: The club holds multiple excursions during the year and there are two types. Trips and Pop-ups.
Trips have Wagon Master’s and Pop-ups have a Host that volunteer to organize the event.
Trips have structure and planned activities. RV park and group activity reservations are made by the
wagon master for the trip. These excursions can range from three days to several weeks in length and
there may be three to four such trips per year. Trips could be local or more than one day to arrive at the
destination. Reservations for our Trips and Social Events are first come- first served at an announced time and place. Trips, if full, will have a wait list. The reservation policy is on the club’s web site.
Pop-Up excursions have a host, but typically no organized activities. For these, there will be an
announcement as to the location and date of the event. Each member that wants to attend makes their
own reservations for a site. These are commonly about 3 or 4 days in length and usually within a few hours drive.
Social Events: The club holds multiple social events during the year. These are put on by the VP of
Social Events and a committee that works with her. These can be local day trips or an event such the RV
Lot, Lanai, or Holiday parties. Reservation information for these trips is posted in the Open Road as well as being announced on the club’s mass e-mail. Reservations are first come first served and notification will be given for date and time for sign-ups. If the event is overbooked, a wait list will be created.
RV Storage Lot: OHCC RV storage lot is available to all residents of OHCC. You do not need to be a
member of the RV club to obtain a storage spot. It is patrolled by the OHCC security team. The HOA main
office assigns the spaces on a first come first served basis. However, RV storage spaces are also
designated based upon the space and RV size. The RV must be maintained and in good working
condition, have current registration in the same name as the person living in the OHCC home and be
insured. There is a copy of the RV lot agreement on our club’s web site.
